Smoothies have become one of the greatest health trends to sweep the industry in the last few years. People love smoothies and it’s a simple way to get lots of nutrients and eat healthier. They don’t take long to make, there are endless recipes, and they taste pretty darn good. I’ll offer some great smoothie recipes below, but you can always look up others. One of the best things about smoothies is that you can add your own ingredients and tweak recipes in ways that work for you! Enjoy your smoothie.
Banana Ginger Smoothie
This smoothie will: soothe digestion, heartburn, nausea, and other stomach trouble thanks to the ginger in it!
1 banana, sliced
¾ c (6 oz) vanilla yogurt
1 Tbsp honey
½ tsp freshly grated ginger
Orange Creamsicle Smoothie
Drink this after a hot day to feel relief from the heat! It’s a nutritious and low-calorie smoothie that offers a great citrus punch.
1 navel orange, peeled
¼ c fat-free half-and-half or fat-free yogurt
2 Tbsp froze orange juice concentrate
¼ tsp vanilla extract
4 ice cubes
Green Tea, Blueberry, and Banana Smoothie
Green tea adds a special healthy twist to this smoothie to give you some great antioxidants. Remember to first brew the tea and mix the honey into it, then add the tea into the blender with the other ingredients.
3 Tbsp water
1 green tea bag
2 tsp honey
1½ c frozen blueberries
½ med banana
¾ c calcium fortified light vanilla soy milk
Banana Strawberry Smoothie
The most classic smoothie recipe and a delicious one at that! It’s likely that anyone who loves smoothies has had the banana strawberry smoothie at some point; it’s a staple for smoothie freaks.
1 c plain nonfat yogurt
½ c orange juice
6 frozen strawberries
Peach Dream Smoothie
Adding in the low-fat vanilla yogurt makes this smoothie absolutely delicious. It adds a great vanilla twist to the peach flavor but is still incredibly healthy.
1 c 1% milk
2 Tbsp low-fat vanilla yogurt
½ c frozen peaches
½ c strawberries
⅛ tsp powdered ginger
2 tsp whey protein powder
3 ice cubes
Skip the milkshakes that are high in fat; drink this smoothie instead! You’ll feel satisfied and proud of yourself for resisting the temptation of a milkshake.
